SunEdison Awarded 33MW Deal to Modernize the Grid in Southern California
SunEdison, Inc. today announced that it has been awarded contracts to build 33MW DC of rooftop solar with Southern California Edison (SCE) in the utility company's latest round of solar procurement. The solar systems will be built on rooftops throughout the Orange County and Inland Empire industrial corridors as part of SCE's plan to upgrade and modernize the grid for customers in densely populated metro areas and reduce power interruptions during periods of peak demand. The agreements were awarded to SunEdison during SCE's fourth request for offers under the utility company's Solar Photovoltaic Program. -

Canadian Solar Receives C$53.5 Million Non-Recourse Loan
Canadian Solar Inc. today announced that Natixis, New York Branch/Norddeutsche Landesbank Gironzentrale, New York Branch/Cooperative Centrale Raiffeisen-Boerenleenbank B.A. "Rabobank Nederland," New York Branch will provide the company with up to C$53.5 Million (USD$44.4 Million) in non-recourse, construction plus term financing. The loan facility will finance the 10MW utility-scale solar power project, "Illumination," located in the town of Scugog, Ontario, which is being acquired by DIF Infra 3 RE Canada Limited. -

Panasonic to Expand its Solar Module Production Capacity to 1GW
Panasonic Corporation announced today that it will boost production capacity of solar cells and modules for its solar panels HIT™ at its two domestic plants. The company will invest 9.5 billion yen to expand production lines at the Shimane Factory, which produces solar cells, and at the Shiga Factory, a module production site. The expansion will add a combined production capacity of 150MW a year, lifting Panasonic's total solar module production capacity of HIT™ to more than 1GW by March 2016, including that of manufacturing facilities in Kedah, Malaysia, and Nishikinohama, Osaka, in addition to the two domestic factories.
